Hi, I’m Susan James
I am a Writer, Artist, Board Certified Ayurvedic Health Counselor (NAMA), Yoga Teacher (CYT 750), Reiki Master, and Barefoot Lawyer.
I developed this website to spread sunshine and share with the world the art from my soul as well as the knowledge I have accumulated in my adventures on this planet.
Ayurveda saved me. It gave me health, a work life I finally feel connected to and passionate about, a marriage worthy of all my romantic dreams. Ayurveda even brought me to my art. Even in the deeply imperfect way I practice Ayurveda, Yoga, and Reiki, these ancient healing practices allow me access to the me that is truly me. Ayurveda did this by explaining me to me and giving me a logical template to follow to get health for ME, which is so different from health for others. I am just not like other people, especially most people out there giving health advice today.
I hope to share some of this ancient knowledge, offer Creative Live Wires to decorate your work and living spaces, and generally brighten your day with love and sunshine as often as I can.
Even before I understood the value of the daily practices, Ayurveda gave definition and meaning to the strange and non-linear (I thought) way my mind operated and the confusing and uncooperative (I thought) way my body worked.
The moment I heard about kapha dosha being a natural way a person can be constituted (a little rounder and softer by design), I was immediately freed from years of struggling with diets and diet mentality and self-criticism because I was never able to achieve the sinewy and lithe body of the movie stars.
The moment I heard about the vata dosha that makes people naturally enthusiastic and energetic, changeable and wildly interested in everything, I immediately let go of the guilt and self-condemnation of not being a steady and consistent producer–one career with longevity, for instance.
